Scaling a Carrier Management Platform on Azure for a National Logistics Provider
A two-year engagement extending a high-traffic carrier dashboard, building the ASP.NET Core APIs behind it, and moving its database and hosting to Azure with autoscaling, caching and full performance monitoring.
- Client
- A national third-party logistics (3PL) provider
- Industry
- Transportation & logistics
- Our role
- Engineering partner
- Duration
- 2 years

The challenge
A national third-party logistics provider relies on a carrier management dashboard to onboard, track and manage the trucking companies that move its customers’ freight. Usage peaks sharply during the business day, and the platform needed new capabilities for its users while staying fast and reliable under load.
At the same time, the application’s SQL Server database was still running on premises, limiting how far the platform could scale.
What we did
Working as an engineering partner to the client’s development team, SunAge:
- Built new dashboard features in Angular, improving the user experience and making it easier for users to manage and track carrier data.
- Architected and implemented ASP.NET Core Web APIs in C#, giving the Angular front end a clean, well-defined way to communicate with backend services.
- Configured autoscaling on Azure App Service, scaling out and back in based on CPU usage so the platform handles peak traffic without paying for idle capacity.
- Introduced Azure Cache for Redis to serve frequent requests from cache, taking load off the SQL database and improving responsiveness.
- Set up Application Insights for end-to-end performance monitoring, so slow requests and errors are visible before users report them.
- Migrated the on-premises SQL Server database to Azure SQL, ensuring data integrity and giving the platform room to grow.
The outcome
- A richer carrier dashboard that helps users manage carrier data more efficiently.
- A cloud platform that scales automatically with demand and stays responsive at peak load.
- Reduced database pressure through caching, and clear visibility into performance through monitoring.
- A database on Azure SQL, ready to scale with the business.
